Review: Kilter x Messorem Happy in Death Hazy Double IPA

Kilter x Messorem Happy in Death Hazy DIPAToday's sampling is Microbrasserie Kilter out of Saint-Boniface (Winnipeg), Manitoba with Messorem Bracitorium out of Montreal. I was visiting Kilter several months back in one of my very rare visits to Winnipeg and somehow I mentioned a visit to Montreal, mentioning a visit to Messorem and the collab came up in conversation. Messorem's taproom is in an old industrial neighbourhood which gave me off a vibe of well, Saint-Boniface, Manitoba, both taprooms are in very industrial-adjacent neighbourhoods but are the shining gem of said neighbourhoods. Also, both breweries make some amazing beer, so I think the collab will be intriguing to me.

Kilter x Messorem's collab is Happy in Death Hazy Double IPA, 8% ABV, a Double Dry hopped IPA with Nectaron, Citra, and HyperBoost(tm) Citra.

Appearance: Completely cloudy with a mild orange & cream body to it. There's a moderate amount of white foam on top that leaves behind of a good amount of lacing to the glass, that's pretty much it.

Aroma: It's quite a sweet, tropical-forward Hazy DIPA with notes of orange, pineapple, a bit of a creamy oatmeal vibe to it, a tad bit of leafy hop presence, so very citrusy. Solid so far!

Taste: I'm getting creaminess from the beginning, a bit of tropical presence of pineapple, orange, lemon. Leafy hop presence, a bit of booziness hitting at the end. Quite smooth. Pineapple, orange, hazy IPA, tad bit of doughiness as well as it warms up.

Overall Thoughts: This is the kind of Hazy (Double) IPA that people are wanting, it's good and I'm glad I got my coworker to pick me up four cans of it.. he found it was a bit too "bitter" for him, but I found it pretty smooth. Also salut to mon ami Eric in Mtl, if he's reading this.
